How much pain is normal after an ear piercing?

I got my ears pierced four days ago (so this question may be premature, but I wanna be sure). They were find the first couple of days but now they hurt whenever I twist them, which I know I'm supposed to do. The after care instructions I got said that pain, redness and swelling are NOT normal after an ear piercing. Should I be worried, or is it too early? The pain isn't too bad and it's not constant, if that makes a difference.

Is this ear lobe piercing? That’s probably normal. Mine ached for about a week, until I started sleeping on my back, with pillows around me so I wouldn’t roll over and squash the earring into my ear. Try some sea salt soaks (look them up on google–they do a better job of explaining than I do, lol) and you do not have to turn the earrings. They won’t get stuck or anything. I didn’t turn my helix piercing and to date, it healed the fastest and gave me the least bit of headache. Oh and take Vit C and some zinc to help speed up your body’s healing process. Also, check the clutch backs, for my second lobe piercing, I found using rubber backs instead of the earring clutchbacks, was WAY more comfortable and didn’t squish the earring into the ear. Some swelling is normal, so is a bit of tingling and itching. Good luck!
